Former WWE/WCW Star Samu Anoa’i Announces His Own Fight Against Cancer
In light of the recent, heartbreaking news that Roman Reigns will be stepping away from WWE due to a battle with Leukemia, former WWE and WCW star Samu Anoa’i has come forward and made his own fight against cancer public.
Samu announced via Facebook on Wednesday afternoon that he was struggling with stage four liver cancer, and is in need of a transplant. The former WWE World Tag Team Champion also noted that, as an “elder member” of his legendary family, he is no way attempting to benefit off his illness, and like his cousin is going public in an attempt to raise funds and awareness for cancer research.
Samu, 55, is the older brother of Afa Jr. (aka Manu) and the son of WWE Hall of Famer Afa Anoa’i of the Wild Samoans. He is a direct cousin of Roman Reigns (the son of Sika), as well as the late Rosey and Yokozuna.
You can read Samu’s full, official statement in the link below. We would like to extend our thoughts and support to the Anoa’i family and its friends in this incredibly difficult time.
