Matt Hardy & Nia Jax Both Backstage at HIAC, Samoa Joe Update
Fans were fearful when Matt Hardy recently released a video teasing that his time in the ring has come to an end, but it appears that Matt is still making appearances and doing work for the company. PWInsider reports that Matt Hardy is backstage for tonight’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view in San Antonio, Texas, but there is no word on whether or not he will be appearing on the show tonight. Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy’s brother, will be in action tonight in a featured match against Randy Orton inside the Hell in a Cell structure. Given that Jeff Hardy has teased that he will reprise the Brother Nero character in his match tonight, maybe “Woken” Matt Hardy could make some sort of cameo, but that is purely speculation at the moment.
It was also mentioned that Raw Superstar Nia Jax is also backstage right now. Jax has been away from WWE over the past few weeks and has been undergoing physical therapy for leg injuries. Much like Matt Hardy, it is unknown if the former Raw Women’s Champion will be used in any way on the pay-per-view later tonight. Jax missed the SummerSlam event this year and has not appeared on WWE programming at all in months. It is possible that she could get involved in the Raw Women’s Championship match tonight between Ronda Rousey and Alexa Bliss since Jax would likely want to receive another title shot very soon. Be sure to keep both eyes open for Nia Jax during the Hell in a Cell event tonight.
The feud between AJ Styles and Samoa Joe has become extremely personal and continues to become more and more intense with each passing week on SmackDown. Styles will be putting his WWE Championship on the line against Joe during tonight’s Hell in a Cell event, and although Joe missed a few live events in Texas and did not wrestle on SmackDown this past Tuesday night, he appears to be set for tonight’s pay-per-view. Joe competed at last night’s live event in Houston, Texas, wherein he lost to AJ Styles in the main event of the show. WWE has not pulled their advertisement for the WWE Championship bout tonight, and it looks like the match will be presented during Hell in a Cell this evening as planned.
