Christophe Galtier says Zinedine Zidane “should be respected” but doesn’t want to “kick a man when he’s down” on Noël Le Graët

Speaking to the press before Paris Saint-Germain’s next Ligue 1 test against Angers, manager Christophe Galtier spoke about the controversey surrounding Noël Le Graët and his comments made about France legend Zinedine Zidane. The following was transcribed by RMC Sport.

Galtier told the press that “Zidane deserves respect and I am convinced he has the respect of everyone,” before moving onto Noël Le Graët’s remarks which have “created a strong reaction”. However, the PSG manager refused to speak further on the subject, saying “I’m not in the habit of kicking a man when he’s down so I won’t comment further.“

Galtier was, of course, talking about FFF president Noël Le Graët’s comments in an explosive interview with RMC where he said that he “doesn’t give a toss” whether Zinedine Zidane takes the Brazil job. He added that he wouldn’t even answer the phone if Zidane had rung him. PSG star Kylian Mbappé reacted to the comments on social media, accusing Le Graët of “disrespecting” the France legend.
