“I would suggest that the president step away from Twitter and start standing with the men and women of the intelligence community and getting on board with the bipartisan commission to make sure that we have the facts as the American people,” he said.
Pell said he wants the information released about Russian interference in the presidential election so the American people can have trust in the country’s election process.
No foreign government should be able to get away with meddling in the country’s election, he said.

“Tomorrow when we vote in the Electoral College, I’ll be putting forward a motion to in fact, call for a bipartisan independent commission to investigate Russian interference,” he said.
Pell noted though that the motion won’t stop the vote from proceeding.
“And I fully expect that Donald Trump will be formally elected as president,” he said, noting that he believes in the peaceful transfer of power.
Voters in the Electoral College will not receive an intelligence briefing about Russian meddling in the presidential race before casting their ballots Monday.
More than 50 of the 232 Democratic electors had signed a letter asking for a briefing before the Electoral College’s vote. The letter asked Director of National Intelligence James Clapper for information on what role, if any, Russia had in helping elect Trump.
