Bryan vs. Shane Update, Usos Want to be on WrestleMania, Rusev
For the past few months on Smackdown, there has been increasing tension between Smackdown Commissioner Shane McMahon and General Manager Daniel Bryan. Naturally, some fans are hoping that this means that Bryan will finally be cleared to return to the ring to face McMahon at WrestleMania or at some other WWE event in the future by WWE’s medical staff. Unfortunately, that still looks to be highly unlikely at this time. According to the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer, Bryan was still not cleared to return as of a few weeks ago. It’s looking much more likely that he will indeed be leaving the company to continue wrestling elsewhere later on this year.
One of the most consistently entertaining aspects of Smackdown have been the promos and in-ring work of the current Smackdown Tag Team Chanpions, Jimmy and Jey Uso. The Usos have been having arguaby the best run of their careers over the past few months, but Pro Wrestling Sheet recently pointed out that the brothers have always either on the preshow at WrestleMania each year or have been left off the show altogether ever since the debuted. The original tweet is petitioning the company to put the Usos on the main card for WrestleMania 34 in April. The Usos themselves replied to the tweet in agreement. Perhaps this will be the year which will see the Usos actually compete during the regular WrestleMania show.

Another highly entertaining character on the Smackdown brand lately has been Rusev. The Bulgarian superstar has graduated past his previous ‘evil foreigner’ gimmick and is now enjoying success with the popular “Rusev Day” catchphrase while teaming up with Aiden English, as well as his wife Lana on the Mixed Match Challenge. Surprisingly, “The Bulgarian Brute” did not appear at all on yesterday’s broadcast of Smackdown (even though yesterday just so happened to also be Rusev Day.) Rusev has now taken to Twitter to acknowledge that he was nowhere to be found on last night’s show. He was apparently still backstage alongside Lana during the show last night.
