Impact Wrestling Results (07/19): Slammiversary XVI Go-Home Show
The show opened up with a video package hyping up this Sunday’s Slammiversary PPV Event.
Josh Matthews welcomed us to the show, which is the Go-Home Edition of this Sunday’s Slammiversary PPV Event. He is joined by Don Callis.
The “Canadian Destroyer” Petey Williams makes his way down to the ring for the first match of the evening.
Petey Williams vs. Killer Kross: Petey started with a flurry of strikes and kicks, but Kross ate all of them and still fired back with a lariat, turning him inside out. Every time he tried to mount a comeback and hit any offense, Kross would easily swat him away or counter with a big suplex in a show of pure dominance. Eventually Williams got some momentum going sending his opponent into the ring post and hitting a springboard DDT, but he got caught with a brutal Saito suplex, landing the X-Division star hard on the back of his neck. With Petey nearing the point of unconsciousness, Kross mocked him and even let him try to do the Canadian Destroyer, but easily shook it off and hit an Alabama Slam for the win. Winner: Killer Kross
After the match, the referee tried to raise Kross’ hand but instead sprinted from the ring to safety.
An emotional video package aired looking at the life of Madison Rayne, who told a story about how her daughter said she “wanted to be a superhero like her mommy” at career day once.
Joe Hendry and Katarina were shown backstage trying to convince Grado that there was nothing going on between them, and Eli Drake was just trying to get in his head last week.
Desi Hit Squad vs. Fallah Bahh & KM: Things quickly broke down into a chaotic brawl, with Bahh squashing both members of Desi Hit Squad in the corner. He did his ridiculous Panda Roll across the ring, and KM did one too just for fun. They actually went back and forth doing rolls, as the crowd actually cheered for KM. Gama got up on the apron to distract the referee and it was enough for one of the Desi boys to knock the big man off the top rope and roll him up with his feet on the ropes. Winners: Desi Hit Squad
A video package aired on the history of the LAX faction throughout the years, and the evolution from the OGz (Homicide and Hernandez), into today’s group with Santana and Ortiz.
Before the next match, Hendry had a “surprise” for everyone and aired a parody featuring clips of Eli from his YouTube channel, dressing up in all sorts of ridiculous costumes as he sang a cheesy song.
Eli Drake vs. Joe Hendry (w/ Grado & Katarina): Drake immediately went on the attack and put the boots to the UK star, bullying him all around the ring for several minutes. The crowd chanted “Joe! Joe! Joe!” but it took him a while to get anything going. Eventually Hendry hit a few clotheslines to take over, came out of the corner with a boot and connected with a swinging neckbreaker for two. Eli caught him with a big spinebuster and went for the Gravy Train, but Henry rolled him up in a crucifix to steal the win. Winner: Joe Hendry
After the match, Katarina celebrated and jumped up and down with Hendry for a while. Grado looked confused and awkwardly tried to jump with them, almost grinding on Joe from behind just trying to be a part of their celebration.
Andrew Everett came out for a match but got blindsided by Eddie Edwards, who laid him out with a kendo stick. Eddie ranted and raved about Tommy Dreamer interfering in his business and costing him his relationship with his wife. He promised that at Slammiversary he would make the ECW legend bleed and feel his blood in his hands, because he’s the “true innovator of violence”.
Another creepy vignette aired with Madison Rayne walking through a door and finding herself in the middle of the woods again. She ran around as the “voices” of Su Yung tormented her, and a bucket of blood rained down on her from above.
Sami Callihan vs. Greg Osborne: Sami attacked at the bell and stomped a mudhole in his opponent as the crowd rained down boos. He beat the absolute hell out of Osborne before the OVE boys handed him the mask of Pentagon Jr. that he’s been carrying around for the last few weeks. Greg tried to get in a few shots but was dropped on his head with a brutal piledriver. Callihan put the mask on his opponent and grabbed a microphone, chanting Pentagon’s name over and over again as he kicked Greg in the face, over and over again. He asked the crowd if they wanted to see him lose his hair, and they all cheered. Sami eventually hit an Angel’s Wings Neckbreaker and covered his opponent for the win. Winner: Sami Callihan
After the match, oVe destroyed the already beaten Greg. Sami got back on the mic and said that Impact management told him to go out and put over the PPV so they could “finally make some money”, because everyone knows he is The DRAW. Pentagon appeared on the tron and spoke Spanish, saying that he would never give his mask over to someone like Callihan, and that at Slammiversary he will demonstrate why Impact is his house. Cero Miedo!
Tessa Blanchard & Shotzi Blackheart vs. Allie & Kiera Hogan: Shotzi got some good offense in at the start before being sent to the floor, as Hogan dove through the ropes with a suicide dive to send them both into the barricade. Allie tagged in and made sure she mocked Tessa in the corner before connecting with a series of running clotheslines in the corner and a suplex in the middle of the ring for two. Hogan in with an ax handle off the second rope. She fired off with chops and elbow strikes, but Tessa took a cheap shot from the apron with a kick to the back of her head. Blanchard never once tagged in, instead choosing to yell at her own partner and sling insults at her opponents from ringside. She ran in once and got superkicked by Allie, who drilled Shotzi with a superkick as well for good measure. When Blackheart finally tried to make the tag, Blanchard walked out on her partner and left her open for a Codebreaker from Allie, who picked up the pin for her team. Winners: Allie & Kiera Hogan
It’s time for the reveal of the mysterious new Knockout who they have been teasing through vignettes for the last few weeks. And it’s… Scarlett Bordeaux!
Video packages aired hyping up the Matt Sydal vs. Brian Cage Match at Slammiversary, as well as the rivalry between Impact World Champion Austin Aries and Moose.
We cut backstage where Dave and Jake Crist are looking for Sami Callihan because he’s apparently disappeared. They see Pentagon sitting in a chair and attack him, but it’s actually Sami who has been tied to a chair. The lights start flickering and Pentagon Jr. appears, taking out everyone. He made Callihan watch while he broke the arms of his brothers and even tried gauging out their eyes.
Moose comes out to the ring and says that he’s been away from the Impact Zone for a few weeks in order to properly train for his fight with Austin Aries at Slammiversary. He calls out the champion and tells him to get his “little bitch ass” down to the ring. Aries appears on the tron and cuts a long, rambling promo which was just a pre-recorded distraction as he snuck into the ring with a steel chair and beats the hell out of Moose. The crowd chants for Moose, who came back and hit a double choke-bomb. Moose swung for the fences with the chair, but Aries grabbed the title and ran up the entrance ramp to safety. The two starred each other down to send Impact off the air.
