Before Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tie the knot in two weeks, there’s another highly-anticipated event coming to a TV near you: Lifetime’s Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance. The made-for-TV movie is loosely based on the couple’s whirlwind courtship and ultimate engagement, and while it’s definitely on our radar pre-wedding it’s also made it to Buckingham Palace.
While it’s not the first time movies have been made about the royal family, there’s one part about Lifetime’s upcoming depiction that is making the Palace “seriously worried.”
“What I’ve heard is that they’re seriously worried about the sex scene,” director Menhaj Huda told Vanity Fair, revealing that his source is very solid. “My wife’s best friend has been dating the press secretary of the palace.”
It doesn’t seem like the producers or the cast is letting it get to them. “Let them worry,” joked producer Merideth Finn, during a panel discussion in Beverly Hills with the film’s stars. “People have sex.”

“They’re definitely aware of the film, let’s put it that way,” added co-screenwriter Scarlett Lacey.
A snippet of the scandalous scene can be seen in the official trailer.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle haven’t spoken much about their relationship, but the writers attempted to be as accurate as possible. “We tried to be really truthful,” said Lacey. “We used our imaginations in places, but there was so much available, from Meghan’s own words. There were so many things we knew to be true, if not in words, then in spirit.”
So do they want Meghan, who has made Lifetime movies in the past, to watch? “If I were her, I would watch it, just for the thrill factor. We admire the couple, so we hope [that] if they watch it, they think it’s funny, it’s sweet, and that we hit on the historical import of their relationship.”
Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance airs on May 13 at 8/7c p.m. on Lifetime.
