Millie Bobby Brown’s Time 100 Tribute Almost Left Her in Tears
When Millie Bobby Brown walked into the Time 100 Gala on Tuesday night, she did so while making history. The 14-year-old Stranger Things actress is the youngest person ever to be honored on the Time 100 list.
As she mingled with other honorees like Greta Gerwig and students from Parkland High School, she reflected on what being named as such an influencer means to her—and how she reacted to her Time 100 tribute, written by her friend and fellow actor Aaron Paul.
“I was almost in tears,” she told InStyle exclusively. “I was in my fitting for the show, and I read it, and it was so nice and so kind. I love him; he’s amazing.”

While the two friends haven’t acted in anything together, they gained fame through their respective successful TV shows: Brown in Stranger Things and Paul in Breaking Bad. Even with their different backgrounds and ages (Paul is 24 years older), Brown said they bonded immediately over ice cream.
“We actually did an interview like a year and a half, two years ago, and then we met at an ice cream parlor once,” Brown said. “We texted like, ‘Let’s meet at an ice cream parlor!’ I brought my whole family, he brought his, and we’ve stayed in contact and have met up ever since.”
For his part, Paul reflected on that ice cream trip with similar warmth. In his tribute to her for the Time 100, he wrote about the moment they met and his admiration for Brown.

“The moment we started speaking, I realized we were in the wrong setting. I had thought, Oh, she’s 12, let’s get ice cream. No. She may have been 12 in years, but her spirit and mind were timeless. A wise woman was speaking from her cherubic face. It was like speaking to a future mentor with a perspective and groundedness that I could only have dreamed of at that age. Or at any age, if I’m being honest,” Paul wrote.

“Maybe that’s why she’s such an extraordinary actor. She somehow understands the human experience as if she has lived it for a thousand years. I’m proud to know her. To call her a friend. To call her my adopted daughter.”
